We fix them here, not six states away

The common experience with hearing aid repair is that you hand the device over, it disappears to a manufacturer for two or three weeks, and you spend that time either straining to hear or wearing a loaner you do not like. That is a reasonable process for a failed circuit board. It is a terrible process for a blocked receiver, which is what most "broken" hearing aids actually are.

Our Wichita Falls office has a repair lab on site. Wax blockages, dead receivers, split tubing, corroded battery contacts, failed microphones, moisture damage, worn retention wires — those are bench jobs, and the bench is here. A large share of what walks through the door gets sorted during the appointment.

You do not need to have bought the hearing aids from us. If you moved here wearing something fitted elsewhere, or inherited a pair, or bought online and cannot get anyone to touch them, bring them in.

What we handle in-house

These are the repairs that do not need to leave the building. If yours is on this list, the realistic answer is usually one visit.

Receiver and speaker replacement

The single most common cause of "it stopped working" — and a bench swap, not a factory job.

Deep cleaning and wax removal

Ultrasonic cleaning of the shell, ports and vents, plus fresh wax guards and domes.

Moisture and corrosion recovery

Vacuum drying to pull moisture out of the electronics. North Texas summers are hard on hearing aids.

Battery doors and contacts

Mechanical failures and corroded contacts that make an aid cut in and out.

Tubing, earhooks and retention

Hardened tubing and stretched retention wires change how an aid sounds and sits.

Firmware and reprogramming

Software updates, and re-verifying the fit afterwards so an update does not quietly change your prescription.

What genuinely has to go back to the manufacturer

Some repairs we will not attempt, and it is worth being straight about why. Sealed circuit boards, cracked cases on rechargeable models, integrated battery replacement on sealed housings, and anything still inside a manufacturer warranty that would be voided by opening it — those go back to the maker.

When that happens we tell you at the appointment rather than after, give you the realistic turnaround the manufacturer is actually quoting, handle the shipping and the paperwork, and fit you with loaners where we have them so you are not going without. If a device is genuinely at the end of its life and a repair would cost most of what a replacement costs, we will say that too.

If you are driving in

A good portion of our repair work comes from outside Wichita Falls — Bowie, Seymour, Graham, Jacksboro, Nocona, Olney, Iowa Park, Burkburnett, Henrietta. If you are making a drive of an hour or so, call before you leave.

Describing the symptom on the phone lets us tell you whether it is likely a bench fix or a manufacturer return, pull the right receivers and parts before you arrive, and give you an appointment slot rather than a wait. It is the difference between a productive trip and a wasted one.

Common Questions

Do you repair hearing aids I did not buy from you?+
Yes. We service all major brands regardless of where they were purchased — including aids bought online or fitted by a practice you have since moved away from. There is no requirement to have been a patient here first.
How long does a hearing aid repair take?+
Many common repairs — receivers, wax blockages, tubing, cleaning, battery contacts — are done in-house and often during your visit. Repairs that have to go back to the manufacturer are typically a couple of weeks, and we will tell you which category yours falls into at the appointment rather than afterwards.
What does a hearing aid repair cost?+
It depends on what failed and whether the device is still under warranty. Many manufacturer warranties include repair coverage, and cleaning and maintenance for our own patients is generally part of ongoing care. We quote before we work, so you are never surprised by an invoice.
Can you repair a hearing aid that got wet?+
Often, yes, and quickly matters. We use vacuum drying to draw moisture out of the electronics rather than relying on a desiccant jar. Bring it in rather than leaving it in rice — rice does very little and the delay lets corrosion set in.
Do you provide loaners while a repair is out?+
Where we have suitable loaners available, yes, for repairs that have to go back to the manufacturer. Ask when you drop the device off so we can set expectations honestly rather than promising something we cannot supply that week.
My hearing aid is not broken but sounds wrong. Is that a repair?+
Sometimes, and sometimes it is a fitting issue rather than a fault. A device can test as working perfectly and still be wrong for your ears if the output was never verified against your prescription. Real-ear measurement tells us which of the two it is, and that is a different appointment from a repair.
